Restaurant Review: Feast Dubai at the Sheraton Grand Dubai
Nestled between the Fairmont Dubai and the H Hotel stands hotel rows latest five star contender, the Sheraton Grand Dubai. From the time they opened in November, the hotel has earned a reputation for its buzzworthy brunch at Feast, featuring live cooking stations from around the globe. With brunch under their belt, the Sheraton’s next feat was to launch a theme night, popular among Dubai’s hotels. And so, Simply Seafood Nights was born to celebrate all things edible, below sea level.
A collaboration between the bold Executive Chef of the Sheraton, Malcom Webster, and the eclectic and undeniably talented Noreen Wasti, of Noni’s Place, would launch their theme night. Gastronomic genius and rustic aesthetics set the scene for a beautiful 17-course intimate dinner which took us on a culinary adventure to discover the elements of salt and water. From the moment I received the invitation I was taken by the typography and intrigued by the accompanying canister of artisan sea salt, this dinner was sure to be special, I RSVP’d immediately.
The dinner table was long and intimate, lined with mason jars filled with wild flowers, candles, caviar tin boxes and piles of books. A globe and a magnifying glass sat curiously in the middle of the table to remind us that the world is your oyster, we were transported to another place and time. I was still admiring the Cape Code-inspired decor when the anchovy focaccia with a trio of flavored butters arrived, naturally shifting my attention to the main event, food!
Here is a glimpse into the innovative menu and the possibilities at Feast, a New England-chic approach to seafood to make your taste buds rejoice. The 17 dishes paired the expected with the unexpected and the exotic with the traditional, all subtle reminders that comfort food can also be sophisticated and progressive.
